The goal of the USGBC NJ Hospitality Committee is to educate hotels, casinos, convention centers and related facilities about best practices to deliver economic, social and environmental benefits. The main area of focus will be to facilitate carbon reduction goals, educate/train stakeholders, promote innovation and green job growth throughout the state. We meet quarterly at locations throughout the state and in coordination with USGBC NJ. Some of our current initiatives include:
- Develop and pilot a Green lodging certification program under the travel green New Jersey online platform: Partnering with USGBC NJ, Sustainable Jersey, NJ Department of Environmental Protection, Economic Growth and Green Energy Office, Travel and Tourism, hospitality facilities, academic institutions and other nonprofit organizations to encourage the hospitality industry to decrease their environmental footprint without sacrificing on service, while improving their profitability.
- Green Job Development for hotels and related facilities: Implement Certification and Training programs with colleges, communities and organizations like LEED.
- Communicate and educate key stakeholders: Holding meetings, conferences and training programs with appropriate organizations and government entities.
